Leopard Rock Lodge, Kenya – Offering real Luxury Safari Services in the African Wilderness
Leopard Rock Lodge, based in Meru National Park, Kenya, is one of the luxury safari lodges that is located in a true wilderness.
The lodge offers some of the best opportunities to view African wildlife and the dramatic beauty that this part of Africa has to offer. Located along the equator in semi-arid of Kenya – Meru National Park which is criss-crossed by numerous permanent streams and rivers, Leopard Rock offers a wide variety of landscape, habitat and wildlife species. The renowned naturalists, George and Joy Adamson set their camp at the Leopard Rock Lodge when they stumbled upon Elsa the lioness, (later made famous by their biographical book and film “Born Free”). The current location of Leopard Rock lodge is a secluded place, unfenced and wild, where a delicate balance between luxury and un-spoilt nature has been achieved.
Leopard Rock Lodge stretches for almost 4 kilometers along the Murera river, which is filled with hippo and crocodile families. There are 15 luxury cottages that are beautifully decorated with king size beds, precious linen and Persian carpets and the thatched makuti roofs assure they blend effortlessly into the surroundings. All cottages boast en-suite bathrooms and large outdoor terraces facing the river. Five cottages feature double en-suite bedrooms turning them into the ideal setting for families.
Leopard Rock Lodge is renowned for its excellent cuisine. In the remote wild setting of Meru, breakfast and lunch are served ‘al fresco’ on the open-air terrace with the incessant background chatter of birds. French owners Michel and Corine Dechauffour have made sure that dinner is an experience; tables are set with china, silverware and cut crystal and a six course dinner is served by waiters in classic costume. The lodge offers an excellent cellar of wines, a range of spirits and other drinks from a fully stocked bar.
Elephant, leopard, rhino and lion roam free – at ease in a protected, natural environment. Activities on offer include game drives accompanied by expert local guides, nature walks, fishing or just relax and sip a cocktail at the fabulous Oasis swimming pool with a fully stocked island bar located at the centre and feel the excitement of watching the crocodiles through a glass partition underneath!
Attention to detail, friendly & discerning service and focus on the splendor of the destination is the driving force of Leopard Rock Lodge, together with a commitment to the environment.
