Any ideas to make the chartreuse woodwork paint I love work with the light evergreen carpet I’m stuck with?
The thing is, I can’t pull the carpet up. It’s a bit fluffy, too, so I doubt I could use fabric paint (unless you know a brand meant for such things). I understand that it’s probable that there really isn’t much of a solution, but in the case that you have experience in CHEAP home decor, I’m asking. Yes, I have a very small budget (around $50).
If it helps, I have a lot of grey carpet (enough to fill the space) available to me for free, but I’m concerned about how it would lay on the other.
And, lastly, I thought I’d help you visualize the difference in colors. They are both light greens, but one has a very bright, yellow undertone (the lovely paint for my woodwork) and the other has much more blue in it (the less-than-lovely carpet). I’ve considered getting a different paint, but I really do love it and I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t use it. Especially because I have waited 5 years to paint, and I want to be happy with the color.
Thanks a million!
You need to add accessories to the room that contain bits of both of the colors that you are trying to relate.
The fabrics on the furniture, pillows, lamps, and in the art needs to be things that compliment and go well with both of the shades you are trying to work with. In fabric, look for prints, plaids or patterns that relate to both your colors.
In the movie the Big Lebowski, the Dude (Jeff Bridges character) laments the loss of his rug that tied the whole room together. What you need to do is use everything else in that room to tie these to colors to each other.
Make yourself some swatches/paint chips that are the two shades and start hunting. Start looking in thrift stores and fabric stores.
